Mein Kampf 2

I really need to stop doing things to such an excess. I've seemingly lost all my discipline. And it's bumming me out.

Come on dude.

This week for mail has been pretty decent thus far, and it's only Tuesday...
Twinsistermoon 7" unexpectedly showed up yesterday and is, expectedly, gorgeous. Skyramps CDR also finally came yesterday. I mean, I haven't been waiting that long since I ordered it, but it did take a while until I actually got the opportunity to order it. It's VERY good. I've had it downloaded for a few weeks now but it's nice to have the physical product in my hands. That said, I may have ended up with two copies of it. SO, hopefully I'll find someone to give my extra too (though I'm sure it will have some ebay value soon, too.) I was so excited when I first read about the album...Lopatin & McGuire..brilliant. I've been kind of partial to McGuire's solo stuff (compared to the other Emeralds dudes, whose releases are also excellent), and hearing him team up with OPN is fantastic. I hope they collaborate some more. New NNF batch showed up today, also. That included a Sun Araw tshirt. And I got an Animal Collective sweatshirt in the mail yesterday. Unfortunately, due to my excessive lifestyle as of late, I'm too chunky to wear either of them. I need to get my routine back. It is boring, I guess. But I'm much happier when I'm not feeling disgusted with my chub. I know it would only take 4-6 weeks max of me actually sticking to my typical eating habits that I stuck to without any issue for the past 2 years, but I get so bored on weekends now and just stuff my face out of lack of shit to do. I eat healthy all week then and get back down to where I was, but then do it all over again. I've got to cut that out. Really.

Also, I love Dave Matthews Band. Just want to get that out there.

Flesh Canoe

Young red bird
They're just natural feelings
I can't keep from changing my brains
Bending my wants with my rights
Are my friends still half right
Should I keep them separate from me
It's unclear
Then I get a cold
Can I get a light
It's a certain type of easy pace
That's what we need to make it

Come in close
I trust you
Your nose dipped in my sweat
It dripped on your beautiful sweater
Kind of nice
Should I really lie with you
I never know
When I'm on my own
Are there more important things to do
Than kiss or sleep today we gotta wake up

Then I talk to your breath
And we enjoy the air
And I creep on your chest
To the hut I have where
I pluck a few a notes
On the strands of your hair
And I'm singing to you
What to do if I asked you to make funny faces
With me in the mirror of the bathroom

Know you're next
You make me feel alright
Are you just like me
Never gonna pick one kind of fruit
Like a mushed banana on your tooth
And you like the sting of the cherry juice
Never eat an apple that's just one color

Young red bird
They're just natural feelings
Like walking off to ride my bike
Or just bump into you
I haven't seen you in a week or three days
Though it really bugs me
It's nice to find new ways to smile
I keep thinking that
When you feel sad you can't pout
Cause what this song's about
Is me singing
I'm just wondering what to do
With you, myself, and me
Naked in the mirror of the bathroom

NEW TSHIRT (Sunburned)

I had a blank yellow tshirt lying around so I decided to make a new shirt. I picked the cover for the album Headdress by Sunburned... I'm not good at art. But here is the shirt:

Yeah, it's kind of...off..but I think it's close enough and better than I thought it was going to be.

FOUND: Other Home Made Tshirt

Probably my best work. Totally stoked that I found it and that the weather was nice yesterday so I was able to wear it at work.

Pretty big week and an AWESOME time for the cheap Jensen walkman that I bought at Target two weeks ago to break. Given, it was only $13, it still was a bummer. Had a massive pile of tapes here that I couldn't listen to. Went and picked this here up for $25 though:

MUCH better than that walkman. Even came with a mic. Maybe I can get back to recording soon, albeit in a simpler form than what I was able to do with my 4-track. Really loving this tape player though. And all of these tapes. Also must say that, had I heard the Valet album last year, that would have definitely been in my top 20 for 2008. So great. Maybe more later.

WELL

I kinda failed in writing any sort of review-like blurbs. And I don't really feel like writing any now either. BUT..seriously, as stated earlier this week, get the Mountains album. And also, get the Real Estate 7". We had some kinda nice weather here for a couple of days (right now it's snowing though, total bummer) and I was happy to have that 7" here. I have never listened to a 7" as many times in a such a short period of time as I've listened to that one. "Black Lake" is a great track. All 3 songs make for one excellent little piece of vinyl. White vinyl. And it comes with a CDR with all of the songs on it. So again, for those of you without a turntable, get it anyway. And get a turntable too. My shitty little $12 walkman has not been working out so well..too much background noise...so I haven't really given most of those new tapes a good listen. I'd better work something out though since I have about 30 or so more new cassettes on the way. I ordered a lot of crap last week. Maybe one day I'll begin a new section on this blog where I keep track of all that I've got coming to me in the mail. I do have that posted on the internet somewhere...on my XANGA site...which I guess the URL for it is this, though that entry, and all others except for two, are private, so you aren't able to see my gross financial expenditures. But one day you will. I also got two Harmony Korine related items this week in the mail...the Mister Lonely DVD and the Collected Fanzines book on Drag City. I breezed through the book since it's not exactly a lot of actual reading / text to take in, but it is a lot to take in in other ways. The film is definitely very different from his previous work..certainly more accessible and "normal," while still being weird by the standards of most. I've only gotten to watch it once, but I plan on watching it again very soon. I also liked that he included an Iris Dement song in it. Anyway, off to bed.
